We can Put Our Burden on Him

Utah-Christians-on-Campus-Testimony-We-Can-Put-our-Burden-on-Him

During last week’s bible study we talked about taking the Lord as rest, eating Him as crumbs, and doing the Father’s will. And one verse that really stood out to me is, Matthew 11:28-30 which says,

28 Come to Me all who toil and are burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

And I really love this verse because it talks about how the Lord is willing to take our heavy burden from us and to lighten our load. He’s willing to help us in our lives. And He’s willing to just come to our aid when we ask for it, and He’s willing to do all these things for us, to make our lives easier. Even though He doesn’t have to, He wants to.
He wants to help us go through life a lot easier.

And I just think that is such an important message for us to learn, to know that we can trust in Him, we can put our burden on Him, because He’s going to lighten that burden for us. And He’s there for us, to help us. – Suzie

Gospel of Matthew – Taking the Lord as Rest, Eating Him as Crumbs, and Doing the Father’s Will

07-Taking-the-Lord-as-rest

God’s goal is to gain us so that we express Him, all the time, to the fullest extent. Is this possible? How do we get from where we are now to this lofty goal of God? Is it about doing successful good works? What way does Christ show us?

In this Bible study we look at taking Christ as our rest; we look at taking him as bread, and even crumbs; and we look at doing the will of God.

Christ is one who rested in doing the will of God. His delight did not come from outward successes but from seeing God’s will done on earth. He invites us to be like Him.

As with all our Bible studies, the “meat” comes from diving into God’s word together and discussing it. We invite you to join us or gather with some others to study (and eat) God’s word together.
