Gospel of Matthew – Taking the Lord as Rest, Eating Him as Crumbs, and Doing the Father’s Will

07-Taking-the-Lord-as-rest

God’s goal is to gain us so that we express Him, all the time, to the fullest extent. Is this possible? How do we get from where we are now to this lofty goal of God? Is it about doing successful good works? What way does Christ show us?

In this Bible study we look at taking Christ as our rest; we look at taking him as bread, and even crumbs; and we look at doing the will of God.

Christ is one who rested in doing the will of God. His delight did not come from outward successes but from seeing God’s will done on earth. He invites us to be like Him.

As with all our Bible studies, the “meat” comes from diving into God’s word together and discussing it. We invite you to join us or gather with some others to study (and eat) God’s word together.

As a Man, Jesus Defeated Satan

Utah-Christians-on-Campus-Testimony-Story-As-a-man-Jesus-defeated-Satan

Amen, In last week’s Bible study we went over that Jesus is the Son of Man. Praise the Lord.

Many of us have heard that Jesus is the Son of God but how is He both the Son of God and the Son of Man? When we say Son, it means that you come from someone. Jesus was sent by God and came from God and in similar respects, Jesus came from man.

We went over several aspects of the Lord’s humanity in which He was able to forgive sins.
He was the true king and the true priest and had the highest authority on earth. And my most favorite is that He was able to defeat Satan, as a man.

In Matthew 4:8-10 it says:
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, All these will I give You if You will fall down and worship me. 10 Then Jesus said to him, Go away, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.”

This is very meaningful. It shows us that even in our humanity we can defeat Satan just as the Lord as a man overcame all of his temptations, and in every occassion, defeated Satan. One other example is when Jesus died on the cross and defeated Satan once again.

The Lord has always desired His people to have dominion over the evil one, and that we are able to step over him and we too can overcome him as long as we have the Lord Jesus Christ we can do everything and accomplish everything. Praise the Lord. – Amarisa
