The Tree of Life – In the Middle of the Garden

Wednesday, September 6, 2017, 6pm.

The tree of Life in the middle of the gardenJehovah God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. And Jehovah God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground Jehovah God caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, as well as the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Gen 2:7-9)

What two trees are specifically mentioned in Genesis 2?
Why did God put Man in front of the tree of life?

And Cain went forth from the presence of Jehovah and dwelt in the land of Nod, east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city and called the name of the city after the name of his son Enoch. (Gen. 4: 16-17)

And Jehovah said, My Spirit will not strive with man forever, for he indeed is flesh. And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And Jehovah repented that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him in His heart. (Gen. 6: 3a, 5-6)

And the rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights. Everything in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, of all that was on the dry land, died. (Gen. 7:12,22)

What do you see from the verses above? And how does it relate to question 1?

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. (1 Cor. 6:17)

Then Jesus said to His disciples, if anyone wants to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his soul-life shall lose it; but whoever loses his soul-life for My sake shall find it. (Matt. 16:24-25)

Describe your understanding of “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit” and “deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.”
